R&D challenge

Increasing the Pace of Evaluation and Development

Increasing the Pace of Evaluation and Development

Key questions

  • How do we reduce the technical risks and uncertainty in change programmes to increase the pace
    and certainty of delivery?
  • How do we enhance our prototyping capability to support iterative developments?
  • How do we best complement our research with external resources?

Why?

  • Maximise the agility and flexibility of development and deployment activities to keep pace with a changing industry.
  • Provide a working environment where our researchers feel able to be authentic at work, have autonomy and
    become masters of their skillset.

Core challenges

  • Explore other sectors to identify potentially applicable technologies and concepts to address our research questions.
  • Maximise our flexibility and agility, foster an innovation mindset, and permit greater exploration and prototyping.
  • Build a digital representation of the ATM system to enable the development, validation and assurance of technologies and concepts, while reducing dependencies on simulation capability and operational personnel.
  • Develop or exploit the next generation of technology advancements in operational concepts that will underpin our future products and services.
  • Establish and nurture a collaborative network of strategic research partners to enhance and complement our expertise, and scale our research capability into a world-class thriving ATM research community.
